    Role Overview

    We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join the BUCS development team supporting a critical Finance control tool used in the daily PnL production process for GBAM Finance.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing new database functionality to support key 2026 funded initiatives, while contributing to the modernization of the application technology stack and development processes.

    This role plays an important part in upgrading development tooling, adopting modern engineering practices, and ensuring compliance with bank-wide technology standards and policies.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server database solutions supporting the BUCS application.

    • Build and enhance database functionality to support new Finance initiatives and regulatory requirements.

    • Optimise SQL queries, stored procedures and database performance.

    • Contribute to the modernisation of the application platform and associated development toolsets.

    • Collaborate with globally distributed development teams across Camberley, Singapore and India.

    • Support the implementation of bank-wide development standards, governance and compliance requirements.

    • Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.

    • Ensure high levels of code quality, documentation and testing.

    • Take ownership of technical issues and drive them through to resolution.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices and delivery efficiency.

    Required Skills and Experience

    • Strong Microsoft SQL Server development experience including T-SQL, stored procedures and query optimisation.

    • Good object-oriented design knowledge and understanding of common design patterns.

    • Solid understanding of Agile and Lean software development methodologies.

    • Broad technical awareness of application architecture and database integration.

    • Strong appreciation of the full software development lifecycle and business delivery objectives.

    • Ability to identify opportunities to improve development processes and team efficiency.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience working in globally distributed teams.

    • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and ownership mentality.

    • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, documentation and best practices.

    Desirable Skills

    • Experience working in investment banking or financial services environments.

    • Exposure to front office or middle office systems.

    • Understanding of risk awareness including operational, compliance, business and reputational risk.
