- Work Arrangement: 100% on-site working (5 days per week in the Dublin office). Remote or hybrid working is not available.
- Core Skills: Hands-on proficiency with scripting (Python and Bash) for network automation and troubleshooting.
- Routing Protocols: Strong, proven expertise in IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, and OSPF.
- Assessment: Must pass an in-person technical assessment covering networking concepts and basic scripting.
Role Overview
As a Network Engineer IV within our client's Global Capacity Team, you will play a key role in scaling backbone infrastructure across the EMEA region to support both organic and inorganic growth. Working alongside a global team of 18 project managers and engineers based in Dublin, Seattle, and Sydney, you will focus on the design, deployment, and optimisation of high-scale global DWDM networks and routing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and roll out global DWDM optical networks to meet growing capacity demands.
- Turn up and re-route circuits, generate cost sheets, and support Project Managers with technical troubleshooting.
- Work with telecom service providers (LCOM) and manage data centre deployments, including decommissioning devices.
- Drive operational excellence projects to enhance network quality, stability, and reliability.
- Evaluate new hardware/products and contribute to commercial tender processes.
- Ensure all optical systems comply with defined network architecture standards.
- Create and refine operational processes to improve network build and maintenance efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent industry experience.
- 7+ years of experience in optical network planning, modelling tools, and large-scale DWDM rollouts.
- In-depth knowledge of major DWDM platforms (Ciena, Infinera, Cisco).
- Hands-on experience with major router platforms (Cisco, Juniper), including supervisory and line card configurations.
- Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals, IP protocols, and routing architecture.
- Working knowledge of Python and Bash scripting.
Technical Skills & Protocols
- Routing & Core Protocols: IS-IS, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control).
- Network & Optical Technologies: DWDM, SONET (OC3, OC48), T1/DS1, DS3, 802.1d VLANs/STP.
- Security & Management Protocols: TACACS, IPsec, VPNs, NetFlow, DNS, HTTP, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP.
