The Role
A leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing site is seeking to recruit a Scientist within Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) to support the operation of the downstream laboratory. The role will also provide support to upstream and process analytics functions as business needs require.
This is a 12-month, lab-based contract role requiring consistent onsite presence. Occasional weekend work (daytime only) may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Execution of downstream process steps in the MS&T laboratories, including column chromatography, UF/DF and filtration
- Design and execution of experimental approaches to address manufacturing challenges
- Support of upstream MS&T laboratories with bioreactor sampling and data collection
- Support of process analytics MS&T laboratories through execution of specific analytical assays
- Participation in site safety and training programmes to ensure compliance with established metrics
- Collaboration with Manufacturing, QA, QC, Regulatory, Supply Chain and other cross-functional teams to support facility fit assessments, specification changes, technical evaluations and change management activities
- Support troubleshooting of manufacturing process-related events and evaluation of new process technologies using scale-down models
- Maintain knowledge of cGMP compliance, site requirements and regulatory expectations
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required
- Degree in Biological or Chemical Sciences/Engineering preferred, with at least 1 year of direct laboratory experience in downstream processing
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret and communicate data effectively
- Ability to identify scientific or operational gaps and propose practical solutions
- Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and effective in a team environment
- Experience in upstream or process analytics is not required; training will be provided
