Lead Mechanical Designer - Data Centres - Client Side

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Mechanical Designer to join our in-house engineering team, supporting the delivery and optimisation of our expanding portfolio of data centre facilities. Based in Dublin with flexible hybrid working, this is a key role in ensuring the resilience, efficiency, and scalability of our mission-critical infrastructure.
As part of our client-side project team, you will be responsible for the mechanical design oversight of new build projects, working closely with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and alignment with our operational and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and review mechanical design solutions across multiple data centre projects to ensure compliance with internal standards, industry best practices, and operational requirements.
· Act as the technical authority for mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, and fire protection.
· Collaborate with external design consultants, contractors, and internal teams to drive consistent design quality and project delivery.
· Participate in design reviews, value engineering, and technical risk assessments.
· Support the development and continuous improvement of design standards, guidelines, and specification templates.
· Provide technical input during procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
· Support the evaluation of system performance and the implementation of optimisation or upgrade strategies across the estate.
Requirements:
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
· Minimum 7 years' experience in mechanical design, with a strong background in data centre or critical environment projects.
· In-depth knowledge of data centre cooling technologies, energy-efficient mechanical systems, and relevant standards
· Proficient in reviewing and coordinating designs using tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
· Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
· Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with a mix of office, site, and remote work.
