Financial Accountant | Dublin | Hybrid
I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Accountant to join a growing finance function in Dublin.
This is not a role for someone who simply wants to process journals and tick off month-end reconciliations.
We're looking for an accountant who understands the accounting behind the numbers, takes ownership of their GL areas and has the confidence to challenge balances, processes and controls where things don't look right.
What will you be doing?
- Taking end-to-end ownership of assigned General Ledger and Balance Sheet areas
- Preparing and reviewing high-quality balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparing and posting journals across areas including accruals, prepayments, provisions, fixed assets, intercompany and payroll
- Investigating aged, unusual or unsupported balances and driving them through to resolution
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
- Performing meaningful variance and balance sheet analysis
- Managing intercompany reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Ensuring accounting records and supporting documentation are maintained to a high standard
- Supporting audit and ensuring financial information is properly evidenced
- Identifying process inefficiencies, control weaknesses and recurring issues
- Helping automate and improve finance processes through Excel, ERP, BI, workflow, automation and AI-enabled tools
What are we looking for?
We need someone with solid experience in financial accounting, GL accounting and balance sheet reconciliations, who can demonstrate:
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally including IFRS
- Experience with accruals, prepayments, provisions, cut-off, fixed assets and intercompany
- The ability to understand and explain the substance behind balances, rather than simply completing reconciliations
- A strong control mindset and the confidence to challenge poor-quality inputs or unsupported balances
- Experience identifying root causes and improving accounting processes
- Strong Excel and ERP experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach
Why this role?
You'll have genuine scope to make an impact - improving reconciliation quality, strengthening controls, reducing manual work and helping build a more efficient and automated finance function.
If you're an experienced accountant who enjoys understanding the numbers, solving problems and improving how finance operates, I'd be keen to hear from you.
