We are seeking a Programme Executive to join the Innovation & International Research (IIR) Team within SEAI's Research, Innovation and Electricity Department.
This role is ideally suited to candidates currently working in academia or research environments who are interested in applying their technical and analytical expertise to national and international energy research programmes, policy-aligned innovation, and funded research coordination.
You will work closely with researchers, higher education institutions, industry partners, and international bodies to support Ireland's participation in energy research and innovation initiatives that underpin the transition to a low-carbon energy system.
The Innovation & International Research team plays a central role in:
Supporting energy-related research and innovation activity
Connecting Irish researchers with EU and international funding programmes
Ensuring research outcomes inform national energy policy and implementation
You will report to the Programme Manager and work as part of a multidisciplinary team with expertise across engineering, science, economics, and energy systems.
Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of national and international energy research programmes
Assist in the administration and management of funded research projects, including documentation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement
Contribute to the technical assessment and evaluation of energy research proposals and projects
Support collaboration between academic researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders
Prepare briefing notes, reports, presentations, and analysis for internal and external audiences
Assist with organising and delivering workshops, information sessions, and knowledge-sharing events
Track research outputs and contribute to monitoring impact and alignment with national and EU energy priorities
This role is particularly well suited to candidates with an academic or research-focused background who have experience working in energy-related fields.
Essential Requirements:
Degree (NFQ Level 7 or higher) in Engineering, Science, Energy, or a related discipline
Minimum 3 years relevant experience in an academic, research, energy, or research programme environment
Strong understanding of energy technologies and/or energy systems
Experience working in multidisciplinary research or project teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
Strong organisational and analytical skills
Desirable:
Postgraduate qualification (Master's or PhD)
Experience participating in or supporting funded research programmes (national or EU-level)
Experience evaluating research, technical analysis, or energy systems modelling
Experience organising academic or knowledge-transfer events
