About the Role
A leading global financial institution is seeking a Data Governance Manager to join their dynamic Data Management team. This is a key role in shaping and implementing the enterprise-wide data governance strategy, ensuring that data assets are accurate, secure, and effectively managed across the business.
You will work closely with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Technology, Operations, and Business teams to drive data quality, integrity, and compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
Develop and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
Define and maintain metadata standards, data dictionaries, and data lineage documentation.
Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify data owners, stewards, and ensure appropriate accountability for data quality.
Lead initiatives to enhance data quality, including profiling, issue management, and remediation planning.
Oversee compliance with global regulatory requirements including GDPR and BCBS 239.
Support data governance committees and working groups, including preparing materials and facilitating workshops.
Drive awareness and training around data governance policies and best practices.
Partner with Information Security and Risk teams to ensure data privacy and protection controls are aligned.
5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
Familiarity with data management tools such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR, BCBS 239) impacting data.
Experience working within financial services, banking, or another highly regulated industry.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
Certifications such as CDMP (DAMA), DCAM, CIPP/E, or CIPM are a strong plus.
Experience supporting data initiatives in a multi-national, matrixed organization.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional data governance initiatives.
