An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Part-Time Accountant to join a reputable business in the Ballincollig area on a 6-month contract. An immediate start is preferred for the successful candidate.
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the finance function on a part-time basis, initially to cover a six-month period of leave. Reporting to the Senior Accountant and Managing Director, this role requires a proactive and highly organised individual with exceptional attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily banking activities, accurately record transactions, and perform bank reconciliations.
- Efficiently process and file purchase and expense invoices, manage supplier payments, and reconcile accounts on a monthly basis.
- Process and file subcontractor payments on a weekly basis, demonstrating a thorough working knowledge of the Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) system and Reverse Charge VAT.
- Maintain and manage an Excel-based cost reporting system for all ongoing construction projects.
- Take a key role in the preparation of management accounts and the year-end audit process.
- Manage sales invoicing, generate customer statements, and proactively follow up on overdue accounts.
- Handle inter-company transactions accurately.
- Prepare and file bi-monthly VAT returns, ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Oversee payroll processing on a weekly and monthly basis, ensuring timely tax submissions and compliance.
- Undertake ad hoc assignments as required.
Qualifications:
- A recognised Accounting Qualification is essential (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience essential.
- Previous experience within the Construction Industry is highly advantageous.
- Proven experience working effectively within small teams.
- Advanced proficiency in Big Red Cloud, Collsoft Payroll, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel is required.
- The role necessitates in-house attendance for 3 days per week, with Thursday being a mandatory day.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
