Maintenance Technician
Location: Fermoy, Co. Cork
A leading manufacturing facility in Fermoy, Co. Cork, is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join their dynamic team.
This site is FDA-registered and ISO 13485:2016 certified, specialising in automation for the production of high-quality PCBAs and Class III medical devices.

Position Details
- Shift: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (8 AM - 8 PM)
- Compensation: Base salary of €40-45k with shift premiums (total potential earnings up to €55k with bonuses)
- Benefits Package: Includes comprehensive health-care, pension plan, subsidised canteen, social club, and a death-in-service benefit equal to 4x annual salary
Key Responsibilities
- Automation Maintenance: Ensure consistent quality, output, and yield by maintaining the automation equipment for Class III medical devices.
- Troubleshooting: Perform root-cause analysis to resolve technical issues.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and document all work thoroughly.
- Process Improvement: Implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency while adhering to cGMP standards.
- New Equipment Support: Assist in commissioning new equipment and lead various projects.
- Cross-Training & Inventory: Train other technicians as needed and manage the stock of spare parts.
- Travel: Flexibility to travel for equipment buy-offs or training is required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Qualifications: Level 6 or higher in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical/Automation Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 2+ years as an SMT Technician within a high-volume manufacturing or automation environment.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with HMI systems, IT troubleshooting, and a background in mechanical manufacturing. Knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, and automated systems is a plus.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. Must be open to rotating shift patterns.
Preferred Background
Candidates with experience in electronics, manufacturing, or automotive industries are especially encouraged to apply. Familiarity with handling components like sensors, conveyors, gearboxes, and heavy equipment is ideal.
