Job Title: Legal Bookkeeper
Location: Cork, Ireland (100% On-Site)
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working full-time on-site at the firm's office in County Cork, you will manage all day-to-day legal accounting and bookkeeping functions. Your primary responsibility will be maintaining the client ledger and office accounts in full accordance with the Law Society of Ireland Solicitors Accounts Regulations. You will work closely with the firm's partners to ensure complete financial accuracy and seamless office operations.
Client Account Management: Oversee client accounts, client balances, and outlay in strict compliance with Law Society of Ireland regulations.
Reconciliations: Perform quarterly balancing statements and monthly bank reconciliations for both Client and Office accounts.
Billing & Outlay: Process client billing, fee notes, outlay tracking, and accounts receivable follow-ups.
General Ledger & Accounts Payable: Manage office accounts payable, supplier payments, VAT returns, quarterly/annual tax filings, and payroll processing.
Reporting Accountant Preparation: Prepare books and financial records for annual audits by the firm's Reporting Accountant to ensure timely Law Society submission.
Financial Reporting: Produce monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements, and cash-flow projections for the partners.
Experience: Minimum 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, with proven experience inside an Irish legal practice / solicitor's firm.
Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth working knowledge of the Law Society of Ireland Solicitors Accounts Regulations.
Work Arrangement: Ability to work full-time, on-site in Cork City (Monday through Friday).
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in legal accounting software (e.g., Keyhouse, Expd8/Thread, Harvest) and accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero).
Skills: High accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and commitment to client confidentiality.
