Junior Buyer
12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC),
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join the team of a well-established client operating within the construction sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in purchasing and procurement, gaining hands-on experience supporting live construction projects. Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, site teams, suppliers, Quantity Surveyors and the accounts department, you will play an important role in ensuring materials, orders, deliveries and supplier invoices are managed efficiently and accurately.
The position is offered on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, with a view to a longer-term opportunity for the right candidate.
Assist with sourcing materials, plant and services for construction projects.
Obtain and compare supplier quotations to support purchasing decisions.
Prepare and process purchase orders in line with approval procedures.
Monitor orders, long-lead items and scheduled deliveries.
Maintain accurate purchasing records, order documentation and trackers.
Liaise with project and site teams to understand purchasing requirements.
Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Match invoices against purchase orders, delivery dockets and agreed pricing.
Follow up on outstanding approvals, credits and supporting documentation.
Assist with resolving delivery issues, shortages, returns and credit notes
Maintain accurate supplier, purchase order and invoice records.
Ensure purchasing procedures and approval processes are followed
Previous experience in purchasing and procurement is desirable.
Experience within the construction industry or building materials sector would be an advantage.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general office systems.
Strong numerical, organisational and administrative skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Confident communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with suppliers and internal teams.
Able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and follow up on outstanding queries.
A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in developing a career in procurement.
