Head of Research & Innovation (FMCG)
The Role
We are seeking a strategic, people-centric Research & Innovation (R&I) leader who blends deep technical expertise with sharp commercial acumen. You will be responsible for transforming innovative concepts into impactful business outcomes, thriving in complex environments where you bring clarity, structure, and momentum to the end-to-end delivery process-from initial ideation through to clinical trials and commercial launch.
As a confident influencer of senior stakeholders, you will build high-performing teams, strengthen technical capabilities, and leverage both cross-functional and external partnerships to unlock future-fit innovation.
Requirements for Success
- Education: Tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Industry Expertise: Extensive FMCG experience, with a strong preference for candidates from the Dairy or Chilled Food sectors (specifically Yogurt/Fermented products).
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading and developing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Technical Breadth: Comprehensive experience across product, process, and packaging development.
- Strategic Execution: Demonstrated ability to translate high-level business strategy into actionable innovation roadmaps.
- Compliance & Quality: Solid understanding of regulatory requirements, health claims, food safety, and quality frameworks.
- Communication: Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to operate and negotiate at the executive level.
- Agility: Strong prioritization and decision-making capabilities within fast-paced, dynamic environments.
