Our client is a prominent, well-established financial institution in Cork. Following recent major growth and expansion, they are now one of the largest financial organizations of their kind in the region.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an ambitious Financial Accountant to join a dynamic finance team in Cork. Working directly with the Head of Finance, you will play a crucial role in delivering accurate and compliant financial information, supporting daily financial control, and managing key regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Control & Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, conduct detailed variance analysis, and manage general ledger transactions.
- Balance Sheet Oversight: Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations.
- Regulatory Reporting: Assist with Central Bank of Ireland regulatory submissions, including Prudential Returns and Annual Returns.
- Year-End & Audit: Support the preparation of year-end financial statements and act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors.
- Planning & Forecasting: Support the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Process Improvement: Assist in maintaining and upgrading internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualifications: Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Practice Background: Prior accounting practice experience is required.
- Sector Experience: Previous exposure to financial services, banking, or credit unions is highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, paired with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
