Principal Researcher - Advanced Electronics & Connected Systems
Overview
A leading manufacturer of consumer safety and smart home electronic products is seeking a Principal Researcher to play a senior technical leadership role within a newly established Advanced Research Centre. This is a senior individual contributor position focused on leading early-stage and pre-product research in sensors, connected systems, and advanced electronics, translating research into future product capability.
This is a permanent industry role, with strong links to academia and external technology partners.
Key Responsibilities

Lead internally driven advanced research aligned with long-term technology and product roadmaps

Explore early-stage and pre-commercial technologies in sensors, IoT, embedded and electronic systems

Define and lead collaborative research programs with universities, research institutes and technology partners

Act as the industry technical lead on joint research projects, ensuring commercial relevance and practical outcomes

Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and translate them into structured research initiatives

Communicate research outcomes clearly to internal R&D and product development teams
Core Technical Focus Areas
Essential Requirements

PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related discipline

Strong research background in electronics, sensors or connected systems (industry and/or academia)

Proven experience leading research projects and shaping technical direction
