Job Description

An opportunity to join a fast paced purchasing team

Our Athlone based Pharmaceutical Manufacturer are looking for a highly accomplished and experienced Procurement Specialist to work closely with the Procurement Manager.

The successful Procurement Specialist will be responsible for the a range of duties including but not limited to the purchasing of goods and services, purchasing systems and controls, sourcing initiatives, price negotiation as well as identifying cost saving initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that stock purchase orders are created from ERP prompts in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that non stock purchase orders are created from approved purchase requisitions, in line with business expectations, ensuring that business continuity is maintained.
  • Investigate and pursue cost saving opportunities through tendering and negotiation processes.
  • Routinely suggest and facilitate the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, simplifying complex procurement processes within the supply chain.
  • Support and facilitate cost savings initiatives from internal customers.
  • Track and record savings where applicable.
  • Identify new or alternative sources for material as required.
  • Create and maintain procurement master data in the ERP system for both material and suppliers in a compliant manner - updating operational sops to reflect the agreed standard process.
  • Monitor supplier performance through SRM led strategies.
  • Execute all responsibilities in accordance with company policies and budgets and operate at all times, in the best interests of the company.

Requirements:

  • 3rd level qualification in a science, business or engineering discipline
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Extensive ERP system experience (preferably SAP).
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a procurement or related role, in a high volume, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in an FDA/EMEA regulated site an advantage.
  • Demonstrated track record in generating cost savings through tenders and negotiations.
