Job Description

Morgan McKinley has partnered with a highly reputable Fund Investment Manager to recruit a Risk Officer for their Dublin office.

The Risk Officer will report into and support the Chief Risk Officer, (CRO), in the effective management of the risk function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the CRO to review and update the ManCo. risk appetite statement, risk tolerance, risk limits and risk infrastructure

  • Review and update the risk register to ensure it covers inherent and residual risk and related mitigating factors

  • Support the CRO to ensure that the risk management frameworks for fund and operational risk management are embedded in the company and operating effectively

  • Ensure that the risk frameworks get operationalised and properly implemented

  • Due diligence reporting and review

  • Service providers oversight (administrator and depositary)

  • Risk reporting on potential acquisitions

  • Update policies and procedures on an ongoing basis

  • Attend Risk Committee meetings

Fund Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, measure, mitigate, monitor and report

  • Review and update ManCo. Investment Management Risk Framework

  • Provide ongoing (daily/monthly/quarterly) risk monitoring and reporting for regulated funds

  • Monitor risk appetite and tolerance levels against risks taken

  • Prepare periodical reporting on risks relating to valuation, liquidity, etc

  • Independently monitor and manage data accuracy and completeness for risk reporting.

  • Proactively investigate risk events including deep dive to identify issues arising

  • Challenge all Designated Persons to ensure that the necessary ManCo. controls are in place

  • Risk assessments of the existing portfolio

  • Support the CRO to issue and update the Fund's AML/CTF risk assessments on an annual basis

  • Support the CRO with audit requests

Operational Risk Management:

  • Avoid loss from internal processes, people and systems

  • Review and update the Company's Operational Risk Framework

  • Review and update operational policies, procedures and controls

  • Support the promotion of a risk aware culture

  • Incident and breach reporting with escalation procedures in place

  • Develop stress testing/ scenario testing models for various parts of the business

  • Board reports and presentation of risk issues to the Board when required


  • Degree or equivalent in finance/ accountancy/ real estate

  • Qualification in a related area

  • Full Driving License

  • Ability to compile Board reports

  • High level of proficiency in Excel

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

An advantage:

  • Fluent in German

  • Experience of assessing risk in real estate

  • Ability to assess risk for the portfolio from a strategic view, as opposed to assessing a small number of properties

  • Real estate background

  • Risk management experience
