Job Description
We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced PMO specialist to join a leading Irish energy company, based in their Dublin office.
Position Description
As the custodian of the Project Management Methodology (PMM), the Project Management Office (PMO) plays an integral part in the delivery of major projects throughout the organisation. Working closely with the project teams, the PMO specialists provide essential project management support to facilitate best practice management of projects. An opportunity is available for a self-motivated candidate with strong influencing and communication skills, with a proven track record in project management. This role will provide a great opportunity to further develop their skills in Project Management in a large energy utility, while interacting with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will also support the adoption of the newly introduced Project Management Information System (PMIS)
Key Responsibilities
The role will include the following responsibilities:
- Building strong relationships with PM stakeholders to assist in expanding the team's services offerings
- Working closely with project teams using the new PMM to support successful project development and delivery
- Supporting embedment of PMM into new areas of the business
- Supporting the deployment and adoption of PMIS across the business
- Developing Project Management capability within the Specialist's designated department or business unit
- Providing subject matter expertise on project management processes for the PM community.
- Providing facilitation services ('workshops') as required including:
- Project Planning
- WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) development
- Risk Management
- Lessons Learnt
- Stakeholder Management
- Taking ownership of Project Management processes including conducting reviews of the Project Management processes and working closely with stakeholders to look for improvement opportunities and learning
The successful candidate(s) will be provided with a mentor/buddy; will be trained on PMM; will avail of an onboarding and induction package to develop a better awareness of the team, the department and the company
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- 5 years of Project Management experience
- Strong knowledge of project management processes and frameworks (e.g.,PMI, Prince2)
- Significant experience of working from own initiative and taking ownership of work/projects
- Proven track record of achieving objectives and delivering value for an organisation
- Proven stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure
- Excellent communication, reporting, influencing and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, which is important in all aspects of the role, including travel nationally and internationally
- Proficient in the use of MS Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
- Full clean drivers' licence
Desirable
- Previous project management experience on major construction projects
- Strong knowledge or experience of projects within the Utilities' sector
- Previous experience of working in a PMO
- Interest in process improvement and agile methodologies
- Project planning and scheduling tools (Microsoft Project / Primavera)
- Knowledge of Project Management software platforms (e.g. PPMS)
Qualifications
Essential
- 3rd level qualification in Engineering or relevant area
- Formal Project Management qualification
Desirable
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification
Location
The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and may change as we learn about hybrid working. Site visits is also a feature of this role which will require a certain amount of travel within Ireland and UK.
