Job Description

The purpose of this role is to successfully lead and shape the delivery of a portfolio of technology enabled business change programmes and projects to achieve our ambitions.

Head of Technology Delivery

The purpose of this role is to successfully lead and shape the delivery of a portfolio of technology enabled business change programmes and projects to achieve our ambitions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the management and delivery of a portfolio of change projects aligned to business strategy
  • Identify and deploy the appropriate delivery models for initiatives, including iterative delivery within multi-disciplinary teams; agile project teams; waterfall project teams; and multifaceted programmes
  • Define and implement appropriate governance structures for project initiation, delivery and post- delivery assessment
  • Create the end-to-end environment for projects to succeed, identifying the dependencies providing guidance and support to the delivery teams and working closely with key stakeholders to ensure alignment
  • Own the support, design and planning of the early stages of projects in collaboration with business owners
  • Work closely with functional teams to ensure that the business case and technical requirements for projects are fully understood and managed
  • Ensure risks, issues, impacts, dependencies, costs and benefits are clearly articulated and captured as part of project delivery and shared with key stakeholders
  • Drive the delivery of change initiatives in accordance with industry best practice and methodologies
  • Challenge both our local and central shared services technical teams to think simply and clearly about the change being delivered, and seek opportunities to simplify and transform our working environment
  • Undertake structured quality assurance/health check reviews of programmes and projects as required, to ensure initiatives stay on track
  • Monitor and report on the delivery agenda and intervene when off track
  • Deliver a monthly Delivery portfolio briefing to the Executive management team to update on key initiatives along with key challenges and successes
  • Proactively monitor areas of concerns and risk with the delivery teams and provide recommendations to mitigate to ensure delivery objectives are met
  • Evaluate delivery quality using KPIs and surveys with key executive stakeholders
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders and the Business Readiness team to ensure effective communication and adoption of technology changes by operational teams
  • Direct line management of portfolio management office; programme and project managers; Scrum masters and business analysts
  • Close collaboration with functional leads across the team to ensure the appropriate quality and capacity to resources are available to meet delivery commitments
  • Lead the training & development framework to enhance our internal delivery capability

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analysis, Information Systems or related field
  • 5+ years of leadership responsibility managing multiple, large, cross-functional process and application teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
  • 10+ years business/industry, including programme & change management, design and delivery
  • Direct experience of multiple delivery methodologies
