Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Merchandising Manager to lead the Denim category working for a US Buying Office. The ideal candidate will take ownership of end-to-end production management, vendor relations, capacity allocation, and rigorous cost control. Deep expertise in both washed and unwashed denim, combined with direct experience in a US apparel buying office environment, is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Workflow Management: Drive the end-to-end production lifecycle from order placement to final bulk shipment, ensuring on-time delivery and strict adherence to quality standards.
- Capacity & Supply Chain Planning: Manage factory capacity reservation and allocation across regional vendor networks to match seasonal production spikes and strategic sourcing plans.
- Vendor & Supplier Management: Maintain and evaluate key vendor partnerships, monitoring performance KPIs across factory compliance, turnaround times, and bulk output quality.
- Costing & Financial Control: Lead cost negotiation (FOB/LDP) with suppliers, develop target costing models, and implement strict cost controls to safeguard margin targets.
- Technical Sourcing & Execution: Partner with technical and product development teams to navigate technical wash development, fabric yields, and laundry techniques (washed vs. rigid/unwashed denim).
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Serve as the direct primary bridge between headquarter US teams (design, buying, planning) and Asia-based supply chain partners.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 12+ years of apparel merchandising experience, including at least 3+ years in a management or senior leadership capacity.
- US Market Exposure: Proven track record working within a US Apparel Buying Office or directly supporting major US brands/retailers.
- Category Expertise: Specialized, hands-on knowledge of Denim manufacturing, covering both washed (laundry processes, dry/wet processing) and unwashed/rigid denim.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills in cost management, vendor negotiation, and factory capacity routing.
- Languages: Business-level fluency in English and Cantonese/Mandarin is required to communicate seamlessly across US headquarters and regional vendors.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Apparel Textile, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
