Technical Specialist (Field Services)
Location: Birmingham or Manchester (2 days per week onsite, plus travel to other sites as needed)
Contract: Inside IR35, 6 months, strong potential to extend
Out client is introducing a transformational Field Service Management system. This programme involves multiple releases, new functionality and complex solution design that needs oversight across the bigger picture. Looking for a hands-on Field Services Technology Specialist to join the team and is an ideal role for someone with strong technical delivery experience, able to dive into system testing, solution design reviews and enterprise-level IT problem solving.
What you'll do:
- Provide specialist IT expertise with a focus on Field Services platforms.
- Ensure solution designs meet agreed requirements and review 3rd party Low Level Designs for alignment.
- Support the testing team through Functional, SIT, and ORT, reviewing test cases and acting as the first point of contact before escalating to developers or wider teams.
- Oversee platform capacity, security and performance, ensuring solutions are scalable and robust.
- Collaborate with analysts, consultants, architects and security teams to influence platform design and strategy.
- Lead on incidents, testing cycles and acceptance of services into live environments.
- Deliver documentation including functional requirements, RAID and test strategies in line with governance processes.
- Drive continuous improvement and ensure IT activities align with end-to-end customer journeys.
What we're looking for:
- Hands-on IT delivery experience, system testing, IT support and technical project delivery in enterprise environments.
- Understanding of enterprise architecture patterns and solution design best practices.
- Strong experience delivering IT projects in complex environments, using Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Knowledge of solution design, architecture principles and ITIL frameworks.
- Experience in Field Services environments (Telco, logistics or similar industries).
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS, DevSecOps toolchains (Jenkins, Git, Selenium) and collaboration tools (Teams, Atlassian).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
