Finance & Tax Manager

Our client, a leading business in the estate agency sector, is seeking a motivated and analytical Finance and Tax Manager to join their team and work closely with the Financial Controller.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the company's financial and tax operations, ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate financial information and insights to senior management. You'll play a key part in driving strategic financial goals and contributing to the overall growth of the business. Please note this is 5 days a week in office.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting

Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.

Prepare and analyse monthly and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Assist with the year-end audit, providing accurate documentation and support to auditors.

Monitor key financial metrics and deliver insightful management reports.

Assist in budget preparation and perform variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Treasury

Collaborate with the Director of Finance Operations to manage cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for operational and strategic needs.

Enhance and streamline cash management processes and systems for improved efficiency.

Prepare and present regular treasury reports, including weekly cash flow forecasts and liquidity updates.
Tax Compliance

Prepare data for corporate tax returns, working closely with a Big Four accountancy firm responsible for final computations.

Review external tax computations, assess judgmental tax positions, and advise the Finance Director accordingly.

Prepare and submit VAT, P11D, PSA, and ERS returns accurately and on time.

Monitor changes in tax legislation, assess impacts, and recommend effective tax planning strategies.
Project Management

Contribute to special projects including system implementations, process improvements, and M&A activity.
Experience & Competencies

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent); a tax accounting qualification is a plus.

Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience in a mid-tier accountancy firm or industry.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Sage) and Microsoft Excel.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

Demonstrated experience in process improvement and automation initiatives.
