Bright and Dynamic Legal Counsel sought for Global Bank in Wealth and Personal Banking Division - Channel Islands & Isle of Man
A leading global bank is currently seeking an additional lawyer to join our high performing legal team as Legal Counsel to their Wealth and Personal Banking division. Supporting more senior lawyers in the Team, the Jersey based role with report directly to the CIIOM General Counsel.

The division in which the role sits includes full retail banking in each of Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man, International award winning Expat business, servicing 75,000 globally mobile and sophisticated retail clients from Jerse as we as private banking. This is a successful, growing and a strategic priority for the Bank globally.
The purpose of the role is to:
Provide support on a broad range of legal issues arising out of this division of the Bank
To be considered as a trusted adviser by ensuring that commercially sensitive and pragmatic legal support and advice is provided in a cost-effective manner to this division of the Bank
Provide support and guidance to more senior lawyers in the legal team within this division and assist in identification of legal risks and appropriate risk mitigation strategies
Attend formal governance meetings as a delegate for more senior lawyer and to attend other governance fora as the primary member. The role holder will therefore need to have sufficient professional experience and gravitas to do this successfully
Proactively provide high quality specialised legal and related regulatory advice and guidance and support to the relevant division
Assist in managing the relationships with panel law firms / external legal counsel and ensure such appointments deliver cost effective and practical advice
Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with all members of the relevant legal team and other legal teams (including the UK Legal Team and the Global Wealth and Personal Banking Team headed by the General Counsel
Participate in the co-ordination and promotion of initiatives that result in the sharing of legal knowledge and best practices across the Global Legal Function
Candidate Qualifications
Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with 2-4 years of top quality banking experience
Solid knowledge and experience of all aspects of retail banking and wealth and investment products
Experience of helping a retail wealth focussed business on designing and delivering wealth products
Ability to learn quickly about the Bank's business and personnel, policies and procedures, and corporate culture
Communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to adapt communication style and content to appropriately address the management level of the audience
Lateral thinking/problem solving and the ability to understand the relationships between a range of complex issues and the impact of those issues from a legal, financial and reputational perspective to advise client and reach a solution
