An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Electrical Engineer to join a world-class, industry-leading Life Sciences organization at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Athlone. Functioning as the site lead for electrical engineering, you will play a high-visibility role in driving design assurance, regulatory compliance, and lifecycle reliability across all electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering standards across capital and RTB projects, delivering design and verification packages aligned with GEP, GMP, and IEC/IEEE/ETCI standards.
Maintain strict technical documentation standards to ensure site asset packs are audit-ready. Oversee electrical asset handovers and partner with maintenance teams to resolve complex failures and minimize downtime.
Execute site-specific electrical risk mitigation plans, prioritizing ATEX compliance, Arc Flash protection, and emergency scenario readiness.
Analyze electrical usage data to drive energy optimization initiatives, integrating digital tools, AI systems, and industry best practices.
Serve as the technical SME interfacing across Site Management, EHSS, Operations, Procurement, Finance, and expansion teams while managing vendors and upskilling site technical staff.
Qualifications & Experience
Level 8 Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of electrical engineering experience within a heavily regulated industrial environment (Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, or Medical Device).
Proven background supporting construction, commissioning, qualification, and handover on live GMP manufacturing sites.
Strong expertise in IEC/IEEE/ETCI standards, GEP/GMP requirements, ATEX compliance, and Arc Flash hazard management.
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with a collaborative, adaptable mindset for dynamic site environments.
Ability to work onsite in Athlone
