Joining an industry-leading, world-class life sciences manufacturer, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous reliability, compliance, and lifecycle performance of critical site infrastructure. As a Black Utilities Engineer, you will drive key operational strategies for core utility systems in a state-of-the-art cGMP environment from commissioning and qualification to optimizing performance and advancing ambitious environmental sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Execute robust Commissioning, Qualification, and Verification (CQV) strategies for utility assets, leading risk assessments, deviation management, and technical documentation handovers for live site operations.
Oversee the reliable performance of critical black utility systems, including chilled water, LPHW, steam, compressed air, cooling towers, fire protection, dust extraction, and waste management.
Utilize BMS and CMMS data to track performance trends, drive operational efficiencies, lower carbon footprints, and achieve site-wide sustainability targets.
Partner with EHS, Operations, Finance, and Procurement teams while designing and delivering technical training programs for maintenance craft personnel.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent).
5+ years directly managing industrial plant utilities within a heavily regulated cGMP manufacturing environment, with a proven track record supporting construction and CQV on active sites.
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining complex black utilities alongside strong working knowledge of BMS and CMMS platforms.
Deep understanding of cGMP regulations, EHS standards, and risk-mitigation frameworks for utility systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead training, interface with site leadership, and align cross-functional stakeholders.
