We are seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support a global medical device manufacturer at their Waterford facility. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of high-volume, automated production systems within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical authority on automated manufacturing equipment for contact lens production.
- Provide hands-on support to daily operations by troubleshooting and resolving equipment-related issues.
- Apply data-driven methods to identify recurring performance challenges and implement improvements focused on uptime, yield, and cycle time.
- Oversee and enhance preventative maintenance and calibration programs.
- Evaluate equipment requirements and coordinate the sourcing of spare and replacement parts.
- Contribute to site-wide initiatives including capacity expansion and strategic projects.
- Deliver training to production and maintenance staff to strengthen technical competencies.
- Promote best practices in safety and quality, leading by example.
- Maintain ownership of key safety, quality, and operational action items, ensuring timely follow-up.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs and work instructions.
- Prepare and execute validation studies, protocols, and process/equipment qualifications.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent) with 5+ years of experience.
- Strong background in supporting and optimizing automated manufacturing processes within a regulated sector.
- Proven track record in process improvement and troubleshooting complex equipment.
- Preferred: Lean/Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
