Join one of Japan's largest and most globally recognized financial groups as a Trade Surveillance Analyst. In this role, you will analyze large volumes of trading data using advanced surveillance systems to identify suspicious trading activities such as insider trading, market manipulation, and other forms of unfair market practices. You will collaborate closely with Global Markets, Wealth Management, Corporate divisions, internal IT teams, and external vendors to ensure market integrity and support continuous enhancement of surveillance systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trade surveillance and examinations based on the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and exchange regulations for securities and derivatives traded by institutional and retail investors across group companies.
- Detect and analyze potential insider trading, market manipulation, and other unfair trading patterns to safeguard market integrity.
- Handle a wide range of trading types including algorithmic trading, high-frequency trading, online trading, and face-to-face transactions.
- Use external vendor systems and in-house platforms to extract, review, and validate alerts from large datasets.
- Work with Global Markets, Wealth Management, and Corporate teams to review and investigate potential rule violations.
- Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to support development and enhancement of trade surveillance systems, sharing requirements through calls, chat, and email.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Practical experience in market-related operations, sales, or compliance within a financial institution.
Soft Skills:
- Strong ethical mindset required for compliance roles.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to overall team performance.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native level.
- English: Intermediate to Business level.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in compliance, surveillance, risk management, or audit functions.
- Familiarity with market monitoring tools or algorithmic trading environments.
