Join a leading international securities firm in Tokyo as an AML/CFT Compliance Manager, where you will play a critical role in strengthening financial crime compliance across Japan while collaborating closely with regional APAC stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Japan AML/CFT compliance program, reporting to the local Head of Compliance while aligning with regional APAC frameworks.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Japanese regulators, handling inquiries, filings, and mandatory examinations.
- Oversee end-to-end financial crime compliance operations including high-risk KYC/EDD, transaction monitoring, and SAR submissions.
- Design and execute annual compliance monitoring plans and internal controls aligned with FIEL and local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct enterprise-wide risk assessments and track key compliance metrics such as alert volumes and false-positive rates.
- Provide compliance guidance for new product launches, infrastructure initiatives, and marketing materials to ensure regulatory alignment.
- Partner with global and regional compliance teams to streamline initiatives and manage internal/external audits.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years of compliance experience in banking or securities, including at least 2 years focused on AML/CFT.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese financial regulations, FATF recommendations, and international AML standards.
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical internal controls and business guidance.
- Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems.
Soft Skills:
- Self-starter with strong ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work effectively with both local teams and overseas counterparts.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail when handling regulatory matters.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native level
- English: Intermediate to Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CAMS or CFE are strongly preferred.
