Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic regulatory advice to internal and external stakeholders to enable scalable growth.
- Lead regulatory engagements, including interaction with Japan's key authorities and external auditors.
- Anticipate and address regulatory risks by crafting practical and scalable compliance frameworks.
- Translate obligations into internal policies and drive awareness and implementation across global teams.
- Support new product launches and workstreams by embedding regulatory strategy into business initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 5+ years in regulatory or legal roles, preferably within fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Deep knowledge of Japanese financial and payment regulations.
Core Competencies:
- Ability to operate autonomously and drive initiatives in a high-growth environment.
- Creative, logical problem-solving in the face of regulatory complexity.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder and regulator engagement.
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Fluent (for regulatory communication and documentation)
- English: Fluent (for internal and cross-border collaboration)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience handling cross-border regulatory matters in a global company.
- Track record of managing regulatory interactions with bodies such as the FSA or Bank of Japan.
- Expertise in regulatory impact analysis for new products or business models.
