We are seeking a Principal UX Lead to design intuitive, user-centered experiences for one of Japan's most widely used digital payments platforms. This role sits at the intersection of UX leadership, fintech innovation, and large-scale consumer products, transforming complex financial interactions into simple, seamless journeys used by millions every day. You will play a critical role in shaping the UX vision while collaborating with global, cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end UX design for mobile app and web features using a user-centered design approach.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative user research and translate insights into wireframes, prototypes, and final designs.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and global stakeholders to refine and deliver scalable solutions.
- Ensure high standards of usability, accessibility, and design consistency across large-scale consumer touchpoints.
- Champion UX thinking internally and drive continuous improvement of design processes and practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 7+ years of hands-on UX design experience for mobile or web applications.
- 5+ years in senior or lead-level UX design roles.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design methodology, usability problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
- Proficiency with modern UX/UI design tools.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to clearly communicate design rationale to diverse and complex stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic mindset with a strong focus on user impact and business outcomes.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Business-level or fluent.
- English: Intermediate to business level.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of front-end or mobile technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.).
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.
- Background in fintech or digital financial products.
