Legal Investigator - Internal Investigations & Compliance

A leading Japanese investment bank is seeking a Legal Investigator to support internal investigations, regulatory reporting, and corporate governance activities. This high-impact role is part of a mission-critical legal and compliance function, offering long-term growth and cross-functional exposure within one of Japan's most trusted financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct internal investigations into suspected legal or regulatory violations, including evidence gathering and interviews
• Document findings, evaluate legal breaches, and draft internal reports and regulatory submissions
• Respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies (e.g., FSA, JSDA) and support internal disciplinary processes
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and business teams across departments
• Start with minor cases and gradually handle more complex investigations over time

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a financial institution or conducting internal investigations

Education:

• Graduate of a Japanese law school (法科大学院修了)

Technical & Communication Skills:

• Strong Japanese communication, legal documentation, and investigation skills

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Native level
• English: Intermediate to Business level

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a public prosecutor (3+ years)
• Experience in compliance or internal audit within financial institutions
• Familiarity with internal disciplinary procedures and regulatory reporting practices
