Join a globally recognized travel platform as Japan Legal Counsel, acting as the sole legal advisor for their Japan operations. In this standalone role, you will provide comprehensive legal support, manage commercial agreements, and ensure regulatory compliance while reporting to regional legal leadership.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (JP/EN) with suppliers and partners
Advise on Japanese legal compliance, including data privacy, tourism, and consumer protection laws
Provide HR-related legal guidance and support labor law compliance
Resolve customer-related disputes with legal insight and tact
Develop legal templates, standardize processes, and deliver in-house legal training
5+ years of legal experience in-house or in a law firm
Deep knowledge of Japanese commercial and labor law
Track record of handling cross-functional legal matters independently
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Agile communicator who can adapt in multicultural, cross-border teams
Hands-on mindset with the ability to manage legal issues proactively
Japanese: Fluent
English: Business-level proficiency (for global reporting and contract review)
Legal support experience in travel, e-commerce, or consumer-facing platforms
Experience negotiating contracts across borders and designing compliance policies
Bengoshi qualification is a strong advantage, though not required
