Haken IAM Security Engineer - Okta & Entra ID | Tokyo

Join a globally recognised Japanese manufacturing group in Tokyo as an Information Security & Identity and Access Management (IAM) Specialist, supporting a major enterprise digital transformation and security modernisation programme.

In this contract position, you will help strengthen the organisation's global identity security infrastructure by integrating SaaS applications, improving access management processes and implementing Zero Trust security policies.

You will design and maintain Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access policies using Okta and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory).

Working with IT security teams and business stakeholders across Japan, North America, Europe and Asia, you will support identity governance, privileged access reviews, user lifecycle management and regulatory compliance.

The role combines hands-on IAM engineering with enterprise security governance, requiring a strong understanding of SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC) and Zero Trust architecture.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced IAM Engineer, Identity Security Specialist, Okta Engineer or Microsoft Entra ID Administrator seeking a high-paying contract role in Tokyo with three work-from-home days per week and exposure to global cybersecurity transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions using Okta and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Configure and optimise Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access policies to strengthen enterprise authentication security.
• Integrate SaaS applications with centralised identity platforms, enabling secure and efficient access for employees across global business entities.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Zero Trust security policies and identity-based access controls.
• Conduct privileged access audits and user entitlement reviews to identify inappropriate permissions and reduce security risks.
• Streamline user identity lifecycle management, including access provisioning, role changes and deprovisioning processes.
• Assist with identity governance, access certification and compliance reviews across international business units.
• Troubleshoot authentication, federation and access-related issues involving SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC).
• Collaborate with IT security and infrastructure teams across Japan, North America, Europe and Asia to align IAM policies and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate IAM configuration documentation, audit records and security procedures, supporting consistent governance and compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• Proven hands-on experience implementing Okta or Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) within large enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles, authentication and authorisation processes.
• Practical knowledge of SSO, MFA and Conditional Access policy implementation.
• Strong familiarity with SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication and federation protocols.
• Background in IT security governance, identity security controls and Zero Trust architecture.
• Experience supporting SaaS application integration and enterprise access management.
• Familiarity with privileged access reviews, user lifecycle management and identity governance processes.
• Ability to support IAM compliance reviews and security policy implementation across complex enterprise environments.

• Experience delivering enterprise-wide IAM transformation or Zero Trust security initiatives.
• Hands-on experience integrating multiple SaaS platforms with Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Knowledge of identity governance and administration (IGA), privileged access management (PAM) and access certification processes.
• Experience managing global identity security policies and access controls across multiple business entities.
• Background supporting security compliance reviews, audit preparation or enterprise access governance.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial technology or large multinational corporate environments.
