Key Responsibilities

• Support the execution of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) mandates for clients in the Japanese market.
• Assist with the coordination of debt capital markets transactions, working closely with senior bankers and relevant internal teams.
• Contribute to coverage activities for Japan-based institutional clients, supporting the development and maintenance of client relationships.
• Help identify and understand institutional clients' debt financing requirements and capital markets objectives.
• Prepare and coordinate transaction-related materials, analyses and information required to support DCM execution.
• Support communication between institutional clients, senior bankers and internal transaction stakeholders.
• Assist with the monitoring of Japanese debt capital markets developments relevant to client coverage and transaction activity.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across DCM and other investment banking functions to facilitate transaction execution.
• Maintain accurate and organised transaction documentation and support the timely progression of DCM mandates.
• Contribute to the continued development of a growing Debt Capital Markets team in Tokyo.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in DCM, ECM, Investment Banking Division (IBD) coverage or M&A at an investment bank in Japan.
• Practical understanding of investment banking transactions and capital markets activities gained through relevant professional experience.
• Familiarity with Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, corporate finance or M&A transaction processes.
• Ability to support transaction execution and client coverage activities in a professional investment banking environment.
• Understanding of the Japanese investment banking market and its institutional client environment.
• Ability to work with financial information and transaction-related materials accurately and efficiently.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with institutional clients, senior bankers and internal stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail when handling financial information, transaction materials and deal documentation.

• Familiarity with Japanese corporate and institutional financing activities.
