Corporate Governance Consultant Tokyo - Global Risk & Strategy

Join a global consulting firm as a Corporate Governance Consultant, leading impactful governance reform initiatives that support corporate purpose, transparency, and long-term growth.

This role works closely with executive leadership to enhance board effectiveness, risk management, and internal controls, while engaging in global governance projects that leverage your English communication skills and international perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess current governance structures and develop roadmaps for compliance with Corporate Governance Codes.
• Support governance enhancements such as board structure redesign and independent committee setup.
• Improve the effectiveness of boards of directors and audit committees through operational and process improvements.
• Design and strengthen group governance and enterprise risk management frameworks.
• Support the implementation and operation of internal control systems under Japanese Company Law.
• Participate in global governance projects, including overseas subsidiaries and international stakeholders.
• (For Manager level candidates) Lead project management and proposal development activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• Practical knowledge and experience in corporate governance, risk management, or internal control.
• Experience participating in governance reform or related transformation projects.
• Proven ability to structure issues logically and develop actionable recommendations.
• (Manager level and above) Experience managing projects or teams.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills to build trust with executives and diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to clearly explain complex governance topics in an accessible manner.
• Self-driven professional mindset with strong accountability.
• Leadership capability to guide teams and deliver results.
• Growth mindset with adaptability to changing environments.

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Native level
• English: Fluent

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in internal audit, internal control, or risk management departments.
• Background in governance or risk consulting.
• Experience working on global or cross-border projects.
• Knowledge of using data and technology to enhance governance and risk management.
• Experience in securities firms or investment banking environments.
