Join a major global automotive supplier as an ADAS Senior System Engineer, leading the end-to-end development of advanced driver-assistance systems for leading automotive OEMs in Japan.
Based in Tokyo, you will work across the complete V-Model systems engineering lifecycle, from customer requirements analysis and functional specifications through system architecture, testing, performance evaluation, and vehicle-level validation. Acting as a technical lead, you will bridge Japanese automotive customers with global engineering and development teams to ensure complex ADAS functions are successfully delivered.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze automotive customer requirements and create or update functional requirement specifications and system architecture designs for ADAS functions.
- Maintain requirements traceability throughout the complete systems engineering and V-Model development lifecycle.
- Serve as the technical lead for assigned ADAS functions during customer technical meetings, engineering discussions, and vehicle test drives.
- Coordinate complex technical topics between Japanese automotive customers and overseas engineering and development teams.
- Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and review test strategies to ensure ADAS functions meet required performance targets.
- Evaluate system and vehicle test results, assess ADAS performance, and participate in technical and design reviews.
- Resolve complex technical issues and manage specification changes in collaboration with hardware, software, systems, and validation teams.
- Support the development and evaluation of technologies related to parking systems, navigation, radar, ECUs, and advanced driver-assistance functions.
- Drive cross-functional problem-solving to ensure system requirements, architecture, implementation, and validation remain aligned throughout development.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a System Engineer, with strong domain knowledge of ADAS functions.
- Hands-on engineering experience in one or more relevant areas such as parking systems, navigation systems, radar technology, or ECU development.
- Proven experience writing requirements specifications, developing internal ADAS specifications, and evaluating system or vehicle test results.
- Practical experience with requirements management and traceability across an automotive systems engineering lifecycle.
- For Senior-level responsibilities, knowledge and practical experience in Systems Engineering aligned with ASPICE frameworks.
- For Senior-level responsibilities, knowledge of automotive Software Engineering principles, including AUTOSAR architecture.
Soft Skills:
- Strong technical ownership with the ability to act as a primary engineering liaison between automotive customers and cross-functional development teams.
- Excellent analytical and collaborative problem-solving skills for resolving complex issues across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Ability to communicate technical requirements, system issues, specification changes, and performance results clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Strong coordination skills for working effectively with hardware, software, systems, validation, and overseas engineering teams.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and drive engineering topics toward clear decisions and solutions.
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Business level or above, with strong communication skills for technical discussions with customers in Japan.
- English: Business level, with the ability to coordinate technical matters with overseas engineering and development teams.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge or hands-on experience in ADAS system development within the automotive industry.
- Experience supporting the complete V-Model lifecycle, from requirements definition and system architecture through testing and vehicle evaluation.
- Strong knowledge of ASPICE-based automotive development processes.
- Knowledge or practical experience with AUTOSAR architecture and automotive software engineering.
- Experience working directly with major Japanese automotive OEMs on technical development programs.
- Broader experience across parking assistance, navigation, radar, ECU, or autonomous driving technologies.
- Experience acting as a technical lead or coordinating global engineering teams on automotive development projects.
- High-business-level Japanese proficiency or above.
