Join a global automotive engineering and digital transformation consultancy as an ADAS Embedded Software Engineer, developing advanced driver-assistance systems and autonomous driving technologies for leading automotive clients in Japan.
Based in Tokyo, you will work across the full embedded software development lifecycle, with a particular focus on ADAS perception algorithms, software architecture, AUTOSAR, functional safety, and vehicle communication technologies.
You will design next-generation driving, parking, and interior sensing features using radar, camera/video, and ultrasonic sensor data while collaborating with automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams in a bilingual Japanese-English environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop ADAS and autonomous driving features, including driving assistance, parking, and interior sensing functions.
- Develop advanced perception algorithms using radar, video, and ultrasonic sensor inputs.
- Manage the complete embedded software development lifecycle from requirements analysis through software architecture, integration, and configuration.
- Make technical and architectural decisions to optimize software performance, reliability, and safety.
- Apply automotive development standards and frameworks including AUTOSAR Classic, AUTOSAR Adaptive, ISO 26262, ASIL, and ASPICE.
- Work with in-vehicle communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Develop embedded automotive software using C and C++.
- Contribute to agile software development processes and CI/CD workflows.
- Use engineering and development tools including JIRA, Confluence, and Jenkins.
- Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional engineering teams and external automotive clients in a bilingual environment.
- Support technical knowledge sharing and mentor junior engineering colleagues.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- At least 5 years of embedded software development experience within the automotive industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in ADAS software development and ADAS-specific development processes.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience with AUTOSAR Classic, AUTOSAR Adaptive, ASIL, ISO 26262, and ASPICE.
- Proven experience with automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Hands-on experience managing the full software development lifecycle within agile development frameworks.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- Experience using JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience with standard CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
- Bachelor's degree.

- Embedded software development experience in in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) or connected vehicle environments.
- Certified Scrum Master credential.
- Previous professional experience working directly for a Japanese automotive manufacturer.
- Previous experience with a Tier 1 automotive supplier.
- Experience contributing to software-defined vehicle, autonomous driving, or connected mobility projects.
