Accountant (12-Month Contract)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with potential for extension or permanent conversion)

Work Arrangement: Onsite (4-5 days per week)
Salary: $70,000 - $85,000
About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Accountant to join their growing team in Markham on a 12-month contract. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting function, payroll administration, bookkeeping activities, and financial reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions accurately and efficiently
- Prepare and file tax returns and support regulatory compliance requirements
- Administer Canadian payroll and ensure timely and accurate employee payments
- Prepare account reconciliations and support financial reporting activities
- Support the Financial Controller with day-to-day finance operations and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience performing full-cycle accounting duties
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and journal entries
- Experience processing Canadian payroll
- Exposure to month-end close activities is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
