Join a well-established and expanding Australian Payments business in an essential role reporting directly to the CFO. This unique opportunity allows you to be a trusted advisor, providing essential guidance, support, and challenge on all risk, control, and compliance matters within the organisation. You will manage two juniors in the team and have dealings with the executive leadership team and the Board.
Morgan McKinley are seeking a Risk and Compliance Manager eager to contribute to responsible growth and take full ownership of the risk and compliance function. This role would suit either an experienced Senior R&C Analyst who's had experience mentoring staff already and now looking for their next step up or a junior R&C Manager looking for a bigger remit.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the entire risk and compliance function, serving as the subject matter expert for industry legislation and requirements, while also acting as the primary contact for regulators, payment schemes, and key business relationships.
- Oversee critical risk functions including merchant onboarding, transaction monitoring, disputes, and chargebacks, continuously reviewing processes and implementing improvements.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all regulatory obligations, specifically AUSTRAC and ASIC, by managing associated reporting, conducting reviews and audits, and developing comprehensive internal policies and procedures, including AML/CTF frameworks for ANZ.
- Act as the dedicated AML/CTF Compliance Officer, staying abreast of regulatory changes, assessing their impact, and providing expert advice to the business to ensure ongoing adherence.
- Drive a robust culture of compliance and ethical behaviour across the organisation, promoting best practices and providing essential training and development to team members on relevant risk and compliance matters
Requirements:
- 4 years+ experience in risk or compliance roles within the Payments or FinTech industry, demonstrating in-depth industry compliance experience
- Proven expertise in developing and maintaining AML/CTF policies, SMR reporting, handling ASIC and AFCA disputes, including IDR obligations and strengthening Risk Culture.
- Prior experience working with key payment partners, such as card schemes and acquirers, alongside a strong understanding of Payments and related technologies.
- Experience managing or mentoring team members, coupled with a hands-on, proactive problem-solving approach and high attention to detail.
- You need to be confident dealing with various internal and external stakeholders of all levels, having a growth mindset and initiative to drive change.
