Financial Controller - High-Growth Fintech Payments Business - London - up to £90,000
We are partnering confidentially with a fast-growing, venture-backed fintech payments business to recruit a Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for strengthening financial controls, delivering high-quality reporting, and building scalable finance processes to support rapid international growth.
This is a pivotal hire at a highly exciting stage of the company's journey. With significant expansion underway - including major growth into the US market - the business requires a confident, commercially minded Financial Controller who can bring structure, clarity, and operational rigour to a complex, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting cycles.
- Deliver high-quality management and statutory reporting with clear insight for senior leadership.
- Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Maintain oversight of VAT, regulatory, and statutory submissions, working with external advisors where required.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Insight
- Own the annual budget and quarterly forecasting cycles.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the business, providing analysis of performance, trends, and risks.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial modelling and scenario analysis.
Controls, Process Improvement & Systems
- Strengthen financial controls and governance across the business.
- Redesign and implement scalable finance processes to support international growth.
- Own and optimise the finance systems environment (NetSuite), ensuring data integrity and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and cost management.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a growing finance team of 2.
- Build a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative team culture.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to the CFO and senior leadership team.
Your Profile
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
- Fintech or payments industry experience essential.
- Strong background in financial control, reporting, and audit leadership.
- Experience operating in multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
- Proven team leadership experience.
- Commercially minded, proactive, and confident implementing processes in scaling businesses.
- Strong systems capability; NetSuite experience highly desirable.
