About the Company
Our client is a leading US retail brand with a dynamic, fast-paced buying office in Hong Kong. Backed by a dedicated, on-the-ground Sourcing, Development, and Production team, they manage the end-to-end supply chain for the competitive US market. They are seeking a strategic Senior Merchandiser with a strong vendor management skills to spearhead the costing and allocation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Costing Ownership: Manage the entire apparel costing process from development stages to final bulk production, ensuring target margins are met.
Strategic Allocation: Make definitive decisions on vendor and factory allocations based on cost, capability, and performance.
Capacity & Planning: Analyze factory capacities and lead times, particularly across core manufacturing matrix in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Pakistan, to ensure seamless production flow.
Cross-Border Collaboration: Partner closely with local Hong Kong development/production teams and liaise daily with offshore manufacturing partners to resolve bottlenecks and optimize costs.
Market Alignment: Ensure all product costs and delivery timelines align with the fast-moving demands of the US retail market.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 10+ years of apparel merchandising experience, preferably within a retail buying office or a major global trading hub.
Market Expertise: Proven track record working with the US market and understanding its compliance, speed-to-market, and commercial requirements.
Background: Strong preference for buying office experience. Candidates from high-volume trading houses or garment manufacturers will be highly considered if you possess hands-on, intensive costing experience and have directly managed US clients.
Regional Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the vendor landscape in South/Southeast Asia (specifically Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Cambodia).
Skills: Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and macro-planning skills. Fluent in English and Cantonese/Mandarin.
