About the Role
We are partnering with our client, a leading global financial institution, to identify a strong candidate for a Director-level opportunity in Operations Risk & Regulatory Governance. This is a contract role covering parental leave, with immediate availability preferred.
The successful candidate will play a critical role supporting Asia Operations by driving risk awareness, improving governance controls, and ensuring oversight of operational risk practices, including Operational Risk Incidents, RCSA, and related regulatory frameworks.
Ideal for professionals with experience in multinational banks or large financial institutions, or those coming from risk consulting firms managing banking clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of Operations Risk Reporting across Asia offices, ensuring senior stakeholders have timely, insightful analysis.
- Track and escalate risk incidents, KRIs, open issues, and action plans across business units.
- Lead regular risk monitoring and oversight, including reporting under the Senior Managers Regime (Asia & UK).
- Partner with regional risk leads and business units to implement:
- Regulatory remediation programs
- Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
- Operational Control Frameworks
- Deep dives on material operational risk events
Candidate Profile
- Proven background in Operational Risk Management within a banking or financial services environment, or through risk consulting engagements with banking clients.
- Solid understanding of banking operations, financial regulations in Asia, and internal risk frameworks.
- Experienced in controls related to client money or asset segregation (preferred).
- Strong communicator with excellent written English, able to present clearly to senior stakeholders and regulators.
- Self-starter who can drive initiatives independently while collaborating across global and regional teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong project management and analytical thinking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of tools like Power BI, Alteryx, UiPath a plus.
