We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Functional Data Consultant to act as the subject matter expert for SAP business processes and the underlying SAP data model.
About the Role
This role sits between the SAP functional teams, business stakeholders and data & analytics teams. The successful candidate will have deep, end-to-end knowledge of SAP processes and be able to translate business questions into SAP data requirements without relying on documentation or other functional experts. This is not a project management, data migration or solution architecture role. We are looking for someone with extensive hands-on SAP functional expertise who understands how SAP works from both a business process and data perspective.
Responsibilities
- Act as the SAP functional and data subject matter expert across core SAP business processes.
- Provide expert guidance on how SAP business processes are represented within the SAP data model.
- Map end-to-end SAP processes, including Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Record-to-Report (R2R), to the underlying SAP tables and relationships.
- Identify and document key SAP tables, joins, document flows and data dependencies across modules.
- Translate business reporting and analytics requirements into analytics-ready datasets.
- Partner with data engineering and BI teams to ensure SAP data is structured appropriately for reporting and analytics.
- Validate reporting logic and data models to ensure they accurately reflect SAP business processes.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and recommend the most appropriate SAP data solution.
- Support the design of scalable SAP reporting and analytics solutions.
- Provide guidance to technical teams on SAP data structures and business logic.
Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on SAP functional consulting experience.
- Deep understanding of end-to-end SAP business processes.
- Strong knowledge of SAP data structures, tables and document relationships.
- Experience supporting reporting, analytics or data initiatives using SAP data.
- Strong understanding of relational data modelling and SQL concepts, including joins, facts and dimensions.
- Experience working closely with business users, SAP functional teams and data or BI teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
