My client is looking for an experienced Release Manager to take ownership of and coordinate the software release process across the business.
The role is particularly well suited to someone with a strong Project Management and Release Management background, who has enough technical understanding to confidently work with software development and testing teams without needing to be hands-on technically.
The Role
You'll take end-to-end ownership of the release process, ensuring that all the moving parts are aligned and that each release is ready to go.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating software releases across the business.
- Managing release content, scope and timelines.
- Coordinating multiple workstreams, dependencies and stakeholders.
- Tracking testing progress and ensuring the appropriate testing has been completed.
- Assessing and communicating overall release readiness.
- Working with technical teams to ensure front-end, back-end and application changes are aligned.
- Maintaining a strong focus on the quality of each release.
- Identifying risks, issues and dependencies early and ensuring they are addressed.
- Providing clear and transparent communication to stakeholders throughout the release cycle.
About You:
They are looking for someone who combines strong project management skills with a good understanding of software delivery and release processes.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong Project Management and organisational skills.
- Previous Release Management experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple workstreams and dependencies.
- The ability to build effective relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to keep complex release activity on track.
- A proactive approach to identifying and escalating risks and issues.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
The role is approximately 70% project management and communication, and 30% technical understanding, so they are much more interested in your ability to coordinate, communicate and make sound decisions than your ability to write code.
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- A background in software testing.
- ISTQB certification.
- Change Management experience.
