Your Role:
This is a role that can be based in either Cork or Dublin and is on a hybrid basis.
Our client has embarked on a significant digital transformation programme. This will lead to an enhanced customer experience, through re-development of the delivery channels and the ongoing evolution of the bank's infrastructure and operations in order to provide cost-effective, secure and resilient services to their customers.
To support and enable this transformation an exciting opportunity has become available for a Linux Engineer working as part of the Distributed Infrastructure Team. You will play a key role in the Linux team supporting multiple platforms.
The role will require you to provide support on multiple technologies providing best in class support.
This is a cross functional role requiring the individual to work seamlessly and collaboratively across the Enterprise IT Services function, Group Technology as a whole, and the wider business to achieve the required outcomes.
Your Team:
The Linux Team forms part of broader Enterprise IT Services. You will work as part of an effective, innovation focused and committed team. This team is a growing team supporting technologies such as RedHat, Solaris, HPUX, Zabbix . The role holder will be part of an engaged and empowered team who execute their activities to a high standard, and work seamlessly with all business and technical teams to support the organisation's transformational and resilience objectives.
Your Responsibilities:
Strategy & Delivery
- Support the deployment and implementation of Redhat, Solaris and HPUX Instances across the organisation with a focus on ensuring the resilience and stability of the tooling.
- Maintain the ongoing service and cyber security integrity of the in-scope technologies including patch and Vulnerability management.
- Implementation and support of strategic projects that meet the emerging needs of the organisation
- Drive the delivery of resilient solutions with high availability deployments
- Leverage available tooling to simplify and streamline the delivery of IT change while developing and promoting appropriate risk mitigating techniques for colleagues.
- Act as the line of support between the business teams and Infrastructure teams when troubleshooting issues
- Liaise with project teams, change management office, and technical and production support teams to manage implementations.
- Drive the automation first strategy within Enterprise IT Services eliminating repetitive tasks and enabling the focus on higher value activities.
- Support the design and delivery of a world class Infrastructure

Requirements:
Essential
- Experience in a similar role supporting a large Linux environment.
- In-depth knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux. Knowledge of Solaris, HP-UX.
- In-depth knowledge of Bash scripting & Ansible or similar automation tool
- In-depth knowledge of RedHat Satellite
- Experience with VMware
- Proven ability to identify and diagnose technical and architectural issues, to ensure that these solutions are implemented to best practice standards.
- Accuracy and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet timelines.
- Ability to work well with teams and build strong working relationships.
- Innovative, with a strong focus on continuously improving service to clients.
- Self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Good communication and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiastic, committed and proactive approach to problem solving.
