Director of Strategic Delivery & Portfolio Management

The opportunity
A leading global capital-markets firm is appointing a Director of Strategic Delivery & Portfolio Management to build and lead a new strategic delivery capability across its European business.
As the firm expands into new markets, jurisdictions and products, this executive-level hire will translate strategic priorities into coordinated execution across Operations, Compliance, Legal and Finance.
Reporting directly to the COO, the successful individual will establish the operating model, governance and portfolio-management framework, build a high-performing team and personally lead the firm's most critical initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Build and lead the firm's strategic delivery and portfolio-management capability.
- Translate business priorities into structured, executable programmes.
- Establish portfolio governance, prioritisation, reporting and benefits-realisation frameworks.
- Personally lead complex, business-critical initiatives across multiple functions and jurisdictions.
- Identify and manage portfolio risks, dependencies and resource constraints.
- Provide senior leadership with clear visibility of performance and required decisions.
- Build and develop a high-performing delivery team.
- Strengthen project-delivery capability across the wider organisation.
- Introduce appropriate methodologies, processes and tools without compromising agility.
- Act as a trusted adviser to the COO and senior leadership team.
What you will bring
- Significant programme, portfolio or transformation leadership experience within capital markets or a global financial institution
- Experience building or significantly evolving a PMO, portfolio or strategic delivery function.
- Proven ownership of complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Strong people leadership and team-development experience.
- Credibility to influence and constructively challenge executive and trading stakeholders.
- Experience designing governance and reporting frameworks that work effectively in practice.
- Commercial judgement, including business-case assessment, investment prioritisation and benefits tracking.
- The ability to create structure within a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
- Experience working across international functions and jurisdictions.
