Job Description:
This role plays a key part in the day-to-day operations of the Underwriting Department, reporting directly to the Underwriting Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for making credit decisions for customers referred by automotive retailers. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make credit decisions under pressure, while adhering to credit policies, are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a fast-paced Credit Department by upholding company values to ensure efficient and successful team operations.
- Underwrite retail and lease finance applications within the delegated authority.
- Ensure business quality by adhering to retail policy, procedures, and guidelines at all times.
- Identify and potentially implement improvements to processes and systems for both fleet and retail business to enhance service and product offerings.
- Make recommendations on credit applications beyond delegated authority, presenting them to team management.
- Prepare and present credit applications with recommendations to the credit committee, when required.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and build strong relationships across the team and wider business to drive new business opportunities.
- Perform other ad hoc duties as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Financial Services qualification or equivalent is desirable, but not essential.
- FCCC accreditation in compliance with the Minimum Competency Requirements (MCR) as per the Financial Regulator (accreditation can be completed on the job if not already held).
- Minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly intermediate Excel skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
