Reporting to the Head of Credit, the Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for managing and underwriting credit lines, including wholesale dealer funding, retail finance, and leasing credit portfolios. The ideal candidate will be analytically strong, compliance-focused, and experienced in SME and corporate lending.
Manage retail, leasing, and wholesale corporate credit portfolios within delegated authority limits.
Complete annual credit reviews and applications for corporate funding lines.
Conduct quarterly assessments of corporate financials, highlighting key risks to management.
Act as 1st Vote in the credit approval process; present cases to the credit committee as needed.
Ensure adherence to credit policies, procedures, and guidelines at both local and head office levels.
Conduct on-site customer reviews to support credit assessments and maintain strong credit relationships.
Foster and maintain relationships with clients to optimize use of financial products and services.
Monitor and report on financial trends and portfolio performance to internal stakeholders.
Assist with the annual implementation of European credit guidelines.
Manage timely submission of funding documentation, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and contribute to strategic credit initiatives.
Carry out additional duties as required to support credit operations.
Third-level qualification in finance, business, or a related field.
Recognized Financial Services qualification (e.g., QFA, FCCA) in line with regulatory competency requirements.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in corporate or SME credit underwriting.
Strong knowledge of credit risk, financial statement analysis, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven relationship-building abilities.
High level of attention to detail and analytical thinking.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (advanced level).
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
