Asset Management Associate | Dublin | Hybrid
Morgan McKinley is pleased to partner with a leading global investment firm specializing in generating attractive, risk-adjusted returns through a fundamentals-driven, asset-oriented investment strategy. This firm focuses on off-market, distressed, illiquid, and unique special situation investments, spanning various asset types, including private corporate credit, commercial real estate lending, and consumer finance.
The firm is expanding its Asset Management team and is looking for an associate for its Dublin office. Reporting directly to the Head of European Asset Management, this role will serve as the most senior member on-site and involve close collaboration with both the Front Office Investments team and the operations and finance teams. The Asset Management team plays a critical role in asset valuation, portfolio oversight, and driving returns on the firm's diverse portfolio of investments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee asset management of a broad portfolio of bespoke illiquid-credit investments across sectors such as aviation, real estate, venture debt, energy, and automotive.
- Maintain and nurture relationships with joint venture partners, borrowers, and internal investment professionals.
- Lead the monthly valuation process for assigned assets.
- Build and utilize financial models to support asset valuation and portfolio monitoring.
- Take a leadership role in loan restructuring and workout scenarios, treating these as potential opportunities to enhance value in line with the firm's strategy.
- Work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure smooth collaboration and information flow.
- Develop presentations that provide detailed insights into transaction structures, financial outlooks, and relevant background information.
Preferred Candidate Profile: We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven setting and can approach business challenges with a broad perspective, always seeking process improvements while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university, ideally with a focus on finance, economics, accounting, or another quantitative discipline.
- 3-7 years of relevant experience, ideally in the areas of illiquid and alternative credit, including commercial and industrial loans.
- Strong credit analysis skills, likely developed in a commercial bank, credit fund, or similar institution.
- Experience working with loan restructuring or workout situations, typically with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Familiarity with complex, structured illiquid credit transactions is a significant advantage.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear and compelling investment memoranda.
- High proficiency in Excel, particularly with financial modeling.
- Basic knowledge of risk management approaches would be helpful.
- Impeccable integrity and ethical standards.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude, strong work ethic, and attention to detail are essential.
