Senior Data Scientist - 12 Month Contract
Location: Cork (Hybrid)
Duration: Initial 12-month contract with potential extension
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced contractor who enjoys working with cross-functional teams, building production-ready machine learning solutions, and driving data-led decision making in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy machine learning and predictive analytics solutions.
- Analyse large, complex datasets to identify trends, insights and business opportunities.
- Build, validate and optimise statistical and machine learning models.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, engineers and data teams to translate business challenges into scalable analytical solutions.
- Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science methodologies, best practices and model governance.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' experience in Data Science or Machine Learning.
- Strong commercial experience with Python and SQL.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying machine learning models.
- Experience working with PySpark, Spark, or Databricks.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, predictive modelling and feature engineering.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or XGBoost.
- Experience working within cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with technical and business stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
- MLOps tools such as MLflow.
- Docker and Kubernetes.
- Time series forecasting, NLP or Generative AI.
- Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, medical device or other highly regulated industries.
