Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our retail business in Charleville, Cork. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales performance, leading and developing staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high operational standards across the store.
This is a hands-on management role suited to a commercially focused individual with strong leadership skills and a passion for retail excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the retail store
- Lead, motivate, and develop the store team to achieve sales targets and KPIs
- Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a positive shopping experience
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to improve profitability
- Manage stock control, ordering, merchandising, and inventory accuracy
- Ensure high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and visual merchandising
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and escalations professionally
- Prepare staff rosters and manage labour costs effectively
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies
- Oversee cash handling procedures and daily financial reporting
- Recruit, train, and support team members where required
- Drive local marketing initiatives and promotional activities
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a retail management or supervisory role
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets and manage store performance
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with stock management and retail reporting systems
- Flexible and capable of working in a fast-paced retail environment
Desirable
- Experience in grocery, convenience, hardware, fashion, or forecourt retail
- Knowledge of Irish retail compliance and health & safety standards
- HACCP knowledge (if food retail related)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems
